A story ran in Latin Trade quoting Florida Board Certified IP Attorney Jorge Espinosa, a founding member of the law firm of Espinosa Martinez PL. about the challenges that businesses face in setting up businesses in Cuba now that President Obama has announced the normalization of ties between the two countries. Espinosa said trademark registration is difficult because American companies need to solicit licenses to renew their trademarks. And with no current economic activity taking place because of the embargo, trademarks cannot be renewed if they are not being used.
