He also has experience in commercial litigation and financial services litigation. He has represented lenders in multi-million dollar litigation and the work-out of complex troubled loans, and securities brokers in FINRA arbitration hearings. He regularly represents creditors in Bankruptcy Court and has argued numerous appeals.

Mr. Martinez is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel (an exclusive organization of some of the best defense attorneys in the world), a leader of the Defense Research Institute’s Commercial Litigation Committee, and a member of the International Trademark Association and ASIPI, a Central and South-American based intellectual property organization. He was a founding member of the ABA’s Standing Committee on Publishing Oversight, where he oversaw copyright issues relating to the ABA.

For more than 25 years, Mr. Martinez has been litigating matters of trademark counterfeiting, trademark infringement, copyright infringement, patent infringement and trade secret misappropriation. His intellectual property experience also extends to helping clients, owners of world renown trademarks, develop and implement anti-piracy efforts in the United States and abroad, working with investigators, customs agents and other governmental bodies in investigation and enforcement. His clients have included Polo Ralph Lauren, Panasonic, Tommy Hilfiger, Blockbuster Entertainment (subsequently merged with Viacom), Gianni Versace, Levi Strauss & Co., Hunter Fan Company, Linens 'N Things and Fieldcrest Cannon.

Mr. Martinez also regularly represents clients in international arbitration proceedings. Mr. Martinez has shared his in-depth experience with the students of St. Thomas University School of Law as an adjunct professor of Intellectual Property Law.
